Chimney Inspections
Chimneys are generally the highest point on a building, and it is usually impossible to inspect their condition without human access. Binoculars generally are not a solution as from the ground it is impossible to see the state of the capping and where the pots are embedded to the top of the chimney. Faulty flashing around a chimney is very often the cause of a leaking roof, and again it’s condition is hard to inspect from the ground.
Often, due to the central location on the roof of a chimney, even a ladder (assuming you have one long enough as well as a head for heights) may not be a practical solution to inspect the state of your chimney. The last and most expensive option is scaffolding, which will cost anything from a few hundred to over one thousand pounds.
Using a drone to take high quality photographs or video is not only a far cheaper and safer but also gives you a personal photographic record of the condition of your chimney, which will always be a better option than the often over gloomy report you will get from a contractor employed to check your chimney.
Even if you have had someone inspect your chimney and have the slightest doubt about what they report back, a little extra spent obtaining an unbiased drone photographic roof inspection could save you money and also put you in a strong negotiating position when it comes to discussing repairs. Drone Roof Inspections
Assessing the state or repair or degree of damage to a roof, be it on a domestic property, a church roof or a large flat factory roof can be an often dangerous and usually costly procedure. With the use of drones the task becomes far easier, safer, more economical and often more thorough than before. Using this method of roof inspection not only allows you to discover any damage and/or work required to a roof without the use of costly scaffolding. You will also have a first hand record of what the problems are than having to rely on a report from a tradesman who has viewed your property with a ladder or by erecting expensive and intrusive scaffolding.
Our roof surveys will provide you with a photographic record (or video) so that you can see for yourself exactly what work is required. We can, if required, provide a complete single mapped image of a roof (especially helpful with larger buildings) which could then be forwarded to contractors for estimates. You can see from some of the photos opposite (or below if using a mobile) we are able to produce very high quality imagery.
Whilst we are undertaking a roof survey, it also often possible for you to have a live view and even direct our flying from the safety of the ground. If required due to the close proximity of other buildings or structure which would normally prevent drone use, we can also use our super light mini drone which is permitted for use by the CAA in places that other larger drones are not allowed to operate.
Cost varies depending on the size and location of the property but can be less than £100 including all images. If possible, we may even include a general photo of your house at no extra charge!

Other High Level Drone Inspection Services
The scope for using a drone for high level or difficult to reach locations is almost without boundaries and can include, radio masts, tall chimneys, ship’s masts, cliff faces, solar farms, wind turbines and even windmills!
Do note that many of the more unusual tasks will generally require a pre-flight survey to assess both the options available to record, but also to conduct a full safety assessment to establish if the job can be safety and also legally completed. Sometimes it may not be legally or practicably possible to do the work suggested using our normal equipment, and in those instances we will try to offer alternative solutions.
We now also operate, on occasions, a miniature drone that weighs less than 250 gms (about the weight of a mobile phone) which allows us to operate in areas ruled illegal for larger and heavier drones. Despite it’s size, the results are still very high quality and are usually more than adequate for inspection services, and may even still be of a higher quality than others purporting to offer a drone inspection service.
Please note that our service is not intended to replace a technical survey, structural assessment, or formal diagnosis. We do not produce engineering reports, measured surveys, or condition assessments—our drones may glide with grace, but they haven’t quite graduated from engineering school.
